Full/Part time Quantity Surveyor Required.

A permanent position with an immediate start is available within an exciting Hull based company offering building Glazing/Façade & Full Envelope packages.

Quantity Surveyor Position Overview;

  • Reporting to the directors
  • Pre-tender review to include contract documents, including bills of quantities prior to submission of tenders
  • Post tender review of contracts with the architect and/or the client to assist in negotiation of contracts including cost engineering.
  • Undertake cost analysis and project cash flow
  • Develop budgets, set and track target costs
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control activities/variation accounts
  • Advise on a procurement strategy liaising with other departments
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Negotiate and issue sub-contract agreements and allocate works packages to subcontractors thorough approved supply chain
  • Provide advice on contractual matters (Purchase Orders, JCT, NEC)
  • Maintain contract documentation
  • Create charts and schedules to communicate and control programmes and assist all department to achieve goals
  • Value completed interim and final works and preparation of Applications for Payment/Valuations
  • Preparation, Submission and Negotiation of final accounts
  • Use specialist Construction Management Computer Applications

Skills required

  • Good Numeracy skills
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Experience in the Construction Sector
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to working
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software as required to undertake the role
  • Ability to work as part of a close knit management team and manage several activities/projects simultaneously (both long and short term)
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of Contract Law and contracts currently used in the Building and Civil Engineering industry
  • Communication skills
  • Progression within the company is actively encouraged
