We have an exciting opportunity at Rethink Mental Illness for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our service that provides a nursing service. We have opportunities available in Bovingdon and Stradishall, Newmarket. Working 37.5 hours per week, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,565 - £35,577 per annum.

The Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Role

You will work as part of an integrated primary care mental health team within the Prison to provide high volume low intensity evidence based psychological interventions, which are modelled on a range of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) guided self-management approaches. As a Senior PWP you will provide line management and clinical supervision to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner’s and Health & Wellbeing Coaches.

Key responsibilities as our Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner include:

- Making decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary; or steps-up the persons treatment to high intensity.

- Assess and support people with mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery.

- Undertake person-centered interviews identifying areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.

- Provide assessment and Low intensity interventions e.g. psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, drawing from CBT theories and techniques.

- Implement and support a range of evidence based interventions utilising a self-management model of mental health care.

- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment.

- To produce reports on clients in a timely manner, that convey the key findings of the psychological intervention in a way that does justice to the complexity of the problems described, but that are understandable to the recipients of the reports, including clients and referrers.

- To work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies as appropriate, in relation to continuing care on release from prison.

- Recruit the best talent and ensure that all new staff and volunteers receive a high-quality workplace induction.

The successful Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will have the below skills and experience:

- Successfully completed academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g. Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies.

- Completed or in the process of completing the IAPT supervision training.

- Experience of working in a supervisory role.

- Significant post-qualification experience in offering and delivering the full range of evidence based APT low intensity interventions at Step 2.

- Knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral, record-keeping and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.

- Significant knowledge of IAPT compliant step 2 ways of working.

- Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes.

- Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients and practice in a non-discriminatory manner, respecting the beliefs and cultural practices of individuals and groups.

- Operate always from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity.

- Proven ability to meet agreed/specified service targets and demonstrate clinical outcomes.
