A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Children’s Care Worker to join Appletree Treatment Centre, who provide a safe and stable environment for children between the ages of 6 – 12 years old.

Appletree opened in 1995 with a mission to help support young children who have experienced trauma, whose lives have been severely disrupted to grow socially and emotionally to learn to cope with school and everyday life. We help them wherever possible, to return to families and day schools before they reach their teenage years. We have 3 registered homes with schools on site, located in Natland, Kendal and Grange-over-sands.

As a Care worker, the successful applicant will receive a salary of £16,781 - £20,138. The successful applicant will be involved in the day to day care and support of our young people. As a Care Worker, you must have excellent communication skills, patience, resilience and the ability to work under pressure.

Other key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Have due regard for safety of young people and others
  • Take ownership of own work activities as delegated by line manager
  • Liaise with all teams to ensure and accurate and efficient communication and teamwork using the appropriate mode of interaction and keeping the upmost confidentiality at all times
  • Keep clear professional records and follow reporting procedures
  • Attend meetings and reviews regarding children as required
  • Participate in clinical consultation with your team
  • Challenge inappropriate practices
  • Keep professional boundaries in and outside of the work environment
  • Be part of the shift pattern process and flexible within reasonable boundaries in order to ensure necessary cover for all our homes across the organisation
  • Carry out rostered sleep-in duties as required

To be considered for the role of a Care Worker, you must have excellent communication skills, patience, resilience and the ability to work under pressure. In addition, the following key skills and qualities are essential:

  • Putting children’s safeguarding and development as number 1 priority
  • Experience of working in a care setting
  • Be flexible to work shift patterns
  • NVQ 3 in caring for children and young people (or motivation to work towards)
  • High attention to detail
  • Capable of pro-actively multi-tasking and prioritising workload
  • Able to use your initiative to identify problems and solve them, yet confident to ask for support when needed
  • High level of professionalism and willingness to uphold Appletree Treatment Centre’s standards and encourage them in others.
  • Willingness to undertake a range of responsibilities, which extend beyond core skills as to be expected in a care service environment

In addition to £16,781 - £20,138 (NJC: Pt 14 – 21) depending on experience, the successful Care Worker will receive the following benefits:
