Biosite Systems has a unique opportunity available for a Firmware and Electronics Engineer to join the team in Solihull close to J4 of the M42. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £30,000-£40,000 per annum.

Biosite Systems is a fast growing software and hardware design and development company. Based in Solihull, the company has been focussed on developing sophisticated and innovative software and hardware solutions for the access control and alarm markets. Following the commercial success of our products, we are now looking to for an experienced engineer to join the engineering team.

Your core responsibilities will be to develop, diagnose and maintain the products at the system level, with a primary responsibility for firmware and a secondary responsibility for electronics. All firmware is written in C or C++ and developed on Linux.

Our products are used for mission critical and high availability applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that your contributions comply with the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key responsibilities of the Firmware and Electronics Engineer

- Understanding customer requirements and developing specifications in conjunction with the hardware team prior to the start of a new project.

- Developing firmware for PIC microprocessors.

- Designing and creating test jigs.

- Developing related applications for the PC platform.

- Writing drivers for Linux, Windows and Android.

Skills, knowledge and experience required by the  Firmware and Electronics Engineer

Essential

- 10+ years industrial experience

- Understanding of electronics commensurate with low level work, e.g. transistor logic, voltage regulators, EMC, etc.

- Broad knowledge of Linux operating systems.

- A degree in electronic engineering or other numerate discipline.

Desirable

- Experience with the Qt and Boost C++ libraries.

- Knowledge of the Eagle software package.
