LOCATION: Northampton
JOB TITLE: CAD Technician
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP18,000 - GBP25,000 depending on level of experience
WORKING HOURS: Full Time 40 hours a week
THE COMPANY: We are pleased to be working with one of the UK's leading major utility infrastructure construction companies. As part of the Energy Assets Group the company now employs over 100 staff to design and construct gas and electricity networks. With an enviable list of established blue chip clients Dragon needs dynamic and enthusiastic new team members to help continue this exciting journey. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Technician to join them.
THE ROLE: The CAD Technician will become an essential member of the Design Team based in Northampton to produce technical designs, route maps and schematics. Excellent opportunities to develop a career and progress into other areas of the business. Whilst it is preferable that the candidate has knowledge in a technical capacity of the electricity power distribution industry this is not essential.
Although this will be a main part of the responsibilities, the successful candidate will also assist in
producing drawings to go with all onsite work instructions, tendering plans and traffic management
works.
This is a short-term contract with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce technical designs, route maps, schematics
Transpose technical information onto CAD, detail all specifications
Ensure that the operational teams have accurate and up to date specifications
Undertake design and planning associated with contestable LV/11kV installations
Produce site layout drawings, single line diagrams and materials lists
Work flexibly and collaboratively with colleagues, developers and clients
Design to engineering directives, engineering standards including G81, ENA, GIRS,
NRSWA, Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
Comply with design assurance and audit processes
Work to project timeline, report on progress to line manager
General Office Administration Duties
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the CAD Technician role will be competent in the use of AutoCAD. Applications are welcomed from candidates of varied levels of experience, this will be reflected in the salary. You will need to have strong communications skills and a fluent speaker of the English language.
Key essential criteria for the CAD Technician role:
Live within a commutable distance of Northampton
AutoCAD trained
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications - Word / Excel
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Strong interpersonal skills
Good communication skills, verbal and written
Self-motivated, accurate and with an eye for detail
Able to work in a team environment
