ROLE: COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERS (DOMICILIARY CARE)

SALARY: £7.50 - £8.18 PER HOUR

Have you ever thought of a career within the care industry or do you have prior experience and you’re looking for a positive change?

Based within Lancashire, this provider has an incredible reputation of care and trust within the industry and specifically amongst the people the support workers work alongside and assist to live as independently as possible. This particular position is centrally based within the Blackpool area of Lancashire and covers an approximate 5 mile radius in all directions from the centre.

In an average day you might have 3 - 4 visits and the clients are generally matched to your personality and your lifestyle interests so you can connect and find common ground.  It may be you are working with a young adult who has learning difficulties, you could be caring for a small child who may base autism or an older person with complex needs - it’s incredibly varied and because of this you do need to have a flexible and compassionate nature.

The types of things you might be assisting with could be domestic housekeeping such as washing, helping to prepare and cook meals, money managing, accompanying someone to do shopping, spending leisure tome together (you might go for walks or bowling or to a football match…). In a nutshell, anything you might do yourself in an average day, week or month, you’d be doing alongside someone with additional needs.

This role takes someone with a mature, level head. You have to have the confidence to be a decision-maker, use your initiative and instinct and always have the best interests of the individual you’re supporting in mind. Some will have complex needs so a level of communication skills that will enable you to find common ground and gain trust is essential. The existing team describe the job as being immensely fulfilling and rewarding and one of the best parts is the relationships they build and solidify whilst giving care and support to individuals.
