Head of Skills Delivery
Salary: Circa £73k per annum + Excellent Benefits
Hours: 36½ hours per week

The company is comprised of 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and our locally elected politicians, who know this region best. Individual councils will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

In the West Midlands we're rightly proud of our many assets - the people, places and history that make us such a unique region. We're proud of what we've achieved, but we're ambitious to do more. The creation of the company and our devolution deals with government provide us with the ability to do more for our people and the area and we're determined to seize this once in a generation opportunity to deliver faster, better change for the future.

We have a bold ambition to deliver inclusive growth, where we will focus on providing our businesses and communities with the skills and support they need to succeed. Crucially, we will work through a unique collaboration of businesses, public sector organisations, universities, colleges and all those who share our passion for, and pride in, the West Midlands.

We're determined to make our mark so that the West Midlands becomes the best place in the UK to live and do business.

Our Productivity and Skills team are looking to recruit a Head of Skills Delivery which offers an exciting opportunity to positively influence the productivity, employment and skills agenda across the West Midlands.

Head of Skills Delivery

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Skills Delivery to work with colleges, adult and community learning and other training providers to take forward the region's ambitions for skills and employment.

Our focus is on delivering inclusive growth - ensuring that more West Midlands residents are given the support and training they need to share in our region's prosperity.

The role will ensure the successful delivery of regional skills programmes including support for the unemployed and low paid, and targeted sectoral initiatives. The post holder will also be responsible for the successful transition and future oversight of the Adult Education Budget which will be fully devolved in 2019.

We are looking for someone who is strong on collaboration and passionate about the transformational impact of skills.

So what will you need to bring to this role? Practical experience and a real understanding of economic development, education, employment and skills, the ability to work with partners and the confidence to drive the development, implementation and completion of the productivity & skills work programme. Beyond this, we need individuals who are committed to working in a high performing team, can forge productive relationships across the region and can credibly promote the company's work on a regional, national and international stage.

You will need to balance that strategic orientation and leadership with an ability and preparedness to get things done. You'll instinctively keep an eye on the horizon but to make sure we get there you'll keep a firm grip on delivery. Your experience and approach will have honed that sense of when, where and how you will make the right interventions to ensure that we succeed.

Your background is less important than your attitude and approach. You'll be enthused by and enthusiastic about the content of the portfolio and breadth of issues here. You'll have successfully worked with multiple stakeholders and complex programmes at scale. You'll be highly motivated and energised to translate that experience to the West Midlands in the next phase of your career.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.
