About Us: 

We are Living Coasts, an innovative coastal zoo and aquarium that lets you see the wonders of the world’s coasts right from the heart of Torquay. 

While most people may know us for our amazing animals in naturalistic habitats, we are also a conservation and education charity. Part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, we are dedicated to protecting our global wildlife heritage and inspiring a respect for animals, plants and the environment in others. 

Now, we are looking for a Head Chef to help drive the success of our café and catering establishments throughout the attraction.

In this exciting role, you’ll have the chance to create delicious menu choices for adventurers of all ages. Whether customers are enjoying the views in our Terrace Café or taking a break at The Jetty, you’ll ensure that taste buds are tantalised and stomachs are satisfied. 

You will have the opportunity to build on your existing expertise, utilise your creativity and work with a talented team who are passionate about creating the ultimate day out. 

The Role: 

As the Head Chef, you will develop and deliver the menu for Living Coasts’ café and Jetty kiosk.

Specifically, you will: 

- Supervise staff within the kitchens 
- Deliver the menu in-line with KPIs and within budget 
- Ensure that your menu is consistent with our overall offering 
- Adhere to all food hygiene, food safety and H&S legislation 
- Order stock and pass invoices on to the Accounts Team 
- Ensure that any POS items are in-line with branding guidelines 
- Report any equipment defects to the Catering Manager 

About You: 

To be considered, you will need: 

- Previous experience of managing teams and ensuring a culture of excellence in terms of service, standards, health and safety 
- Experience of developing menus that cater for a wide audience and high turnover 
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification in Food Management (or equivalent) 
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification in Food Hygiene 
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

We’re eager to hear from individuals with experience as a Chef, Catering Team Leader, Catering Supervisor, Head Cook, Kitchen Section Leader, Head Caterer, Kitchen Team Leader or Kitchen Supervisor.
