A progressive, nationwide, food distribution business seeks a Technical Director to make a strategic contribution to the growth of the business through the continued development of the technical function.
A senior player within a technical discipline; you'll have built a reputation with major customers based upon your insight and integrity. Confidence inspiring, you'll have an in-depth knowledge of the supply chain from farm to fork, a wide range of product knowledge and an expert understanding of high-risk product management.
The individual we seek will come from a multifaceted fast-moving operation with a broad supply base. You'll have experience of accreditation and certification and be used to running "audit ready" across the business.
To succeed you'll need to be commercially aware, numerate and capable of communicating the complex in understandable terms for a non-technical audience. Taking a collaborative approach, you'll need to ensure engagement with the technical agenda in an environment with multiple and competing priorities. Capable of influencing senior players internally and externally, you'll have the tenacity and resilience to embed compliance throughout the supply chain.
This is an agile business, responsive to client demands and market opportunities, requiring technical governance. Self-confident you will have advanced people management skills and provide decisive leadership with the enthusiasm and perseverance necessary to affect change. The role holder will be the first point of contact for technical account management issues.
Experience in any or all of the following aspects would be desirable Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Agriculture, Horticulture, traceability, sustainability, statutory obligations, due diligence, high-risk, prepared meat, prepared fish, compliance, seasonality, fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, cheeses, dairy, salads, fresh pasta, supplier audit, food safety and supply chain, BRC, Global G.A.P, Red Tractor.
