The University of Bristol Department of Philosophy is seeking to appoint a Reader or Professor in Philosophy. The University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates working in any area of philosophy, who have an outstanding track record and an international reputation in the field.
The Department of Philosophy is known for the high quality of its research and teaching and has a thriving undergraduate and postgraduate community. In recent years the Department has been highly successful in attracting grant income and hosts several externally-funded research projects, and numerous postdoctoral researchers. The Department enjoys thriving interdisciplinary links with other departments and faculties within the University.
The successful candidate will be expected to initiate major research projects of their own, to have a record of successful research grant capture, to contribute to programme development and delivery at all levels, and to collaborate closely with other researchers in Philosophy and in the rest of the University. We are looking to appoint a collegial and enthusiastic person, of high academic distinction, with the ability and willingness to make a major contribution to the intellectual life of the Department.
