Salary: Grade 4, full time equivalent £24,964 - £29,323

18.5 hours per week 

Location – Based out of Bracknell Fire Station, although this role is mobile across the County with the requirement for regular work at RBFRS headquarters in Calcot.

27 days plus Bank Holidays per annum pro-rata.

This is a fixed term role for a period of 12 months.

An opportunity has arisen in the Human Resources Department for a role to lead on the implementation of a specific strategy and action plan to address mental wellbeing of all employees. This will include raising awareness to staff and mangers through various communication channels and training activities. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to review and implement support mechanisms with the aim of contributing to a continued reduction in sickness absence levels ensuring interventions are cost effective.

Main Duties (See Job Description for full details)  

  • Provide expert guidance on RBFRS policies that relate to mental health.
  • Deliver the newly approved mental health strategy that forms part of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy which incorporates RBFRS’ Mind Blue Light action plan.
  • Analyse research into mental wellbeing of RBFRS and monitor changes over time.
  • Coordinate the activity of Blue Light champions and proactively recruit new team members.
  • Explore collaborative opportunities for interventions with other blue light partners including the FireFighters Charity.
  • Assist Occupational Health and line managers with the return to work of all employees due to mental health sickness absence.
  • Analyse sickness absence data and target interventions accordingly.

Key Requirements

  • Knowledge of Public Health strategies related to mental health.
  • Experience in the field of mental health.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly express oneself and engage with people at all levels.
  • Organisational skills; able to work unsupervised and meet time limits and deadlines.
  • Computer literate (word, excel, outlook).

Qualifications Required

Maths and English to GCSE level C or above or equivalent.

Relevant professional qualification or 3 years relevant experience
