As Residential Support Worker you will be supporting up to four children (mixed gender) aged 10 - 19, with learning disabilities (including autistic spectrum disorder and dyspraxia) and challenging behaviour.
Your role will include:
- Helping young people with their morning and evening routines, e. medication, preparing meals, tidying rooms, walking to school, personal hygiene, going to bed
- Supporting young people in school throughout the day
- Admin and housework duties
- Supporting young people with activities after school, on weekends and half-terms, such as swimming, bowling, golf, football, arts and crafts, cinema, walks, going to clubs/scouts/guides, and trips away (e. London, theme parks, zoos, trampoline centres) and holidays
- Acting as a good role model, providing consistent boundaries, and enabling young people to feel safe and secure
- Supporting young people to plan activities, food menus, and hold discussions at weekly House Meetings
- Following individual care plans for each child
- Completing handovers with other staff
Shift patterns will be a mixture of earlies (7am - 3), lates (3pm - 10pm) and alternate weekends, working 37 hours per week.

To apply for this role you should have at least 1 year`s experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.
You will need to hold, or be willing to complete, an NVQ or QCF Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or Residential Childcare.
