A thriving transport company is currently seeking to recruit an Innovation and Development Support Manager. This new role will drive forward the Abellio Rail Replacement (ARR)/Event Connect (EC) commitment to innovation and the use of technology to support their business.


 


The Role:


 


You will work in partnership with the company’s third party supplier to support and continuously develop ARR’s bespoke operational IT system by:


 

  • Being a key point of contact for both organisations and a champion for ARR users and suppliers.
  • Prioritising and communicating the development workload to our 3rd party supplier.
  • Delivering training and support to ensure the wider ARR/EC Team use the full functionality of the systems and innovations in place.
  • Writing and delivering scoping documents and business cases for new workstreams that deliver efficiency and evolve our current products.
  • Project manage the roll out of new initiatives to the business ensuring that processes are consistently applied and benefits maximised.

 


You will source, trial and introduce innovative new products and ways of working as part of our drive ARR/EC to ensure we are the market leader in provision of Rail Replacement to our customers.


 


You will work with a range of third parties including our customers to seek ways to share and use the data ARR holds to deliver a better product for our customers.

 


You will work alongside the Business Support Manager in delivering key projects including vehicle tracking for Rail Replacement services, further development of our mobile apps and revolutionising the way in which Emergency Rail Replacement is delivered to our customers.


 


You will work alongside the Business Support Manager to mobilise future contracts for ARR/EC.

 


You will support the Events Manager by seeking to adapt existing ARR innovations to meet the needs of tenders and external clients.


 


You will have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including a duty to report unsafe acts or omissions to safety


 


To undertake any other duties as directed by the Business Support Manager.


 


The Candidate:


 


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship between the business and our third-party supplier. They will seek to continuously improve our ability to efficiently deliver rail replacement/event activity by managing this and a range of internal relationships.


 


They will also need to look outwards to the market to seek innovative new solutions to the challenges we face and adapt these so they are fit for purpose within the business.


 


Key Skills:


 

  • Essential: A strong track record of delivering continuous improvement and innovation in any area of an organisation.
  • Essential: A clearly demonstrated ability to deliver initiatives/projects/ideas which are focused on the end-user, customer or both.
  • Essential: Strong communication skills particularly in communicating complex projects or ideas to the intended audience.
  • Essential: Ability to work flexibly and creatively to problem solve.

 

  • Desirable: Relevant experience and understanding of the transport industry and/or the way in which Rail Replacement operates.
  • Desirable:  Experience of delivering technology or other projects in one of more of the following areas: Hardware rollout; delivery of new software to end users; working with IT developers; app development; use of big data tools.
