Tamar Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Operative to join the team based in Hoddesdon. You will be on a full time permanent contract, and receive a highly competitive salary of £24,000 per annum.

We are looking to recruit a Plant Operative to work in a hands-on and varied operational role at our AD plant in Hoddesdon which converts organic waste into biogas to generate green electricity. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with an interest in a hands-on operational job involving primarily operating mobile plant machinery with some maintenance as well to join this green energy start-up with high-profile investors and an exciting future.

Job Responsibilities as our Plant Operative

As our Plant Operative you will have a hands-on role operating machinery on the site, managing feedstock (organic waste) throughput throughout the process alongside assisting in plant maintenance, general upkeep and repairs. Our operators will be essential for promoting good working practices and positive relations between staff, the local community and external regulatory bodies.

The AD Plant includes a number of waste reception tanks, digesters, gas collection systems, a gas flare and a biogas engine along with a number of pumps and valves and SCADA monitoring equipment. The successful candidate will be required to work in all areas of the operation assisting their colleagues where necessary. This position is varied and every day may present different challenges to maximising biogas production.

As our Plant Operative your responsibilities will include

- Operate mobile plant equipment

- Operate and use the plant’s SCADA system to achieve key performance indicators.

- Oversee feedstock deliveries and offloads.

- Assist in plant housekeeping.

- Assist/supervise plant maintenance work and inspections to improve reliability.

- Participate in the development of risk assessments and method statements for the plant

- Track and report plant performance information.

- Ensure plant quality compliance by addressing all potential contamination issues.

This role would be well-suited to candidates looking for a hands-on role involving a mix of operating machinery, maintenance and managing the systems to control the plant and maximise the biogas yields of the digesters and electricity produced by the engines. Alongside previous mechanical or electrical engineering skills or experience, previous experience of operating mobile plant machinery such as a telehandler or loading shovel would be highly desirable but is not essential as full training will be provided.

We are looking for candidates with knowledge of and belief in HSEQ policies and a positive, proactive and dedicated approach to their work. We are looking to move to interview and appointment as soon as possible.

- Experience driving mobile plant (Loading shovel and or telehandler) is essential CPCS desired but not essential”
