Senior Research Analyst - Television

Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to write regular reports covering industry trends, business models and the strategic challenges within the broadcast TV and online video market. The reports will be distributed to c 6,800 readers working for Enders Analysis 150 clients. The postholder will deliver their own reports based on their knowledge of the sector and market data and they will have responsibility for the department’s data sources. The post holder will manage two research analysts within the television team and be responsible for their development.

The development and management of strong, collaborative relationships across our business and client base is key and forms a crucial component of the role.

Accountabilities

  • Lead on at least 10 published reports each year on the television and video market and contribute to many others
  • Help build our capacity to produce analysis on new areas and strategic issues affecting the TV and online markets
  • Assist in the leadership and development of our television team and research programme
  • Create presentations for our clients based upon our current research
  • Manage research and consultancy projects within television, as well as work on larger projects across the company
  • Help manage our subscriber base of television, film and investment clients
  • Present to senior management within a wide range of organisations including media companies, regulators, professional service firms and financial institutions
  • To be a thought leader and ‘go to person’ for journalists at broadsheet newspapers and television & radio news programmes/channels for interviews and commentary

Particular experience:

  • Demonstrable experience  working within television strategy or research in a TV company, research firm or consultancy practice
  • Extensive understanding of BARB data, TV audience behaviours and an expert understanding of the UK TV industry, including advertising, subscriptions, online video and regulation
  • Exceptional research, analytical and writing capabilities, including the ability to develop ideas that will interest our subscribers, analyse complex data, develop compelling arguments and write incisively
  • Superb interpersonal and communication skills, able to present ideas intelligently and persuasively to corporate boards as well as to broadcasters and other media outlets
  • Must have managed people within a team environment

  • A Master’s degree from a world class university
  • A confident writer and communicator with gravitas to operate effectively at senior level

  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task and manage demanding deadlines, and consistently deliver work of an exceptional standard

  • Highly analytical with proficiency in handling and presenting data and using Excel, PowerPoint and AdvantEdge or InfoSys

Remuneration package

  • Competitive salary plus discretionary bonus
  • Normal hours of work are 9am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday
  • Location: central London
  • 20 days holiday per year
  • Pension: auto-enrolment group pension plan
