Job Title: Management Accountant

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Very Competitive

Job Role:

The Management Accountant will work with the Head of Finance in preparing the monthly financial position, accurately and on time. You will also provide support to their Commercial and Operational teams to enable them to deliver accurate project reporting.

Key areas of Responsibility & Accountability:

  • Assist in production of the Division's management accounts.
  • Assist in production of the budget, re-forecasts and rolling forecasts.
  • Maintain integrity of the financial ledgers
  • Monitor Divisional overheads and understand any variances to budget
  • Ensure all known costs are captured and recorded at the end of each financial period
  • Develop close relationship with Commercial to assist in project costing and reporting to increase accuracy and develop an understanding of the projects
  • Working with procurement ensure that all requisitions are adequately prepared and processed.
  • Ensure the up to date contractual positions are reflected on the Divisional Contract Summary
  • Production of rolling 26 week cash forecast, highlighting aged debtors and driving reduction in DSO
  • Production of Management Reporting pack to highlight inefficiencies and implement cost savings
  • Liaise with external auditors and HQ
  • Such other duties that may be allocated from time to time by the Head of Finance.

Candidate Profile

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA chartered accountant with experience of IFRS and UK GAAP and has first time passes alongside a suitable period and quality of Post Qualification Experience.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced team environment, with a robust and enthusiastic personality and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • An understanding of the reporting requirements demanded by a Group finance function.
  • High standards and a desire to develop both themselves and their role over time.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage with stakeholders of all levels across different departments and divisions.
  • A high level of computer literacy. Knowledge of the Summit 5000 accounting system is an advantage, but not essential
