This is an opportunity to join a specialist risk engineering consultancy based in Cheshire. Their current project portfolio includes the structural design of high-profile developments throughout the UK and worldwide against extreme load events. Due to the continued expansion of the business, they are keen to recruit a high calibre Senior Structural Engineer to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As a company they pride themselves on their dynamic and highly successful team. Your duties will include managing the delivery of projects, including liaising with clients and supervising and developing a team of junior engineers.
Project responsibilities will include the engineering analysis and design of exciting projects involving new and existing structures and facilities. This may include:
- Preliminary design studies for Landmark structures
- Detailed design studies in support of D&B contracts
- Detailed design of novel facades
- Advanced FE analysis of structures, including non-linear progressive collapse and time-history analyses
- CFD analysis to determine the blast hazard on structures
- Live blast testing of design solutions
- Vapour cloud explosion hazards refinement studies
- Preparation of technical reports
Examples of recent projects include:
- Detailed design of security enhancements to UK mainline railway station
- Detailed design of the protective hardening of the extension to a Terminal Building at a major UK international airport
- Blast effects analysis and detailed design of protective hardening of a new police headquarters building in Singapore
- Detailed design of the new INEOS headquarters at the Grangemouth petrochemical complex to resist accidental explosions
Requirements:
The candidate shall have:
- A relevant Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering degree
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years postgraduate experience and a sound grasp of steel and concrete design
- Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStructE) or experience capable of passing CPR
- Experience of and ability to lead teams, and working with clients to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- A good understanding of commercial aspects of a project
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Previous knowledge of following skills is desirable but not essential:
o Blast assessment & design
o Seismic assessment & design
o Non-linear finite element analysis
