My client is an innovator and a leading company in their field. They manufacture and maintain a range of automated machine systems, material handling equipment, flow systems, and containment systems for their clients predominantly in the medical and scientific research industries. They are currently working exclusively with me to recruit a Field Service Engineer (Multi-skilled - Electrical bias preferred). Ideally, they are looking for a Service or Maintenance Engineer, that is either a graduate or apprenticeship trained, with at least 2 years service experience, looking to take their career to the next level. The clients you will visit are Nationwide within England, however you may travel to Scotland and Ireland on rare occasions. Ideally you will be based within the Northampton, Milton Keynes, Luton, Bedford,Cambridge or Oxford areas, as these locations provide an ideal central base to cover UK customers nationally.

As a Field Service Engineer working for the company you will be based from home and will receive a work schedule each week. You will travel across the UK to client sites, working on full service projects and provide clients the highest level of service. The majority of your work (apx 85%) will allow you to return home each day however, there will also be occasions when you may see several clients in one area so you could be away for 2-3 days consecutively but this usually is no more than once a month.Due to this, flexibility and a willingness to travel throughout the UK is required to apply for this role. You would also visit the companies local office in Northampton from time to time to restock on parts and attend engineering meetings etc when needed.

As a Field Service Engineer working for the company, your role will be to support clients throughout the UK by delivering Planned Preventive Maintenance and Reactive Repairs to the companies range of air handling and cooling systems and equipment and some of the companies material handling equipment range. This is varied work and will also involve electrical amd mechanical fault finding. The business will also offer training and development on their more complex equipment and machinery as your experience and knowledge grows.

Field Service Engineer - Key Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance, Reactive Breakdown and Repair work to the highest technical standard.
Work with other team members on service projects.
Update the electronic job management system according to agreed procedures.
Ensure effective communication with customers
Manage and maintain tools, parts and equipment
Deliver a consistently high quality and accurate service driven by understanding the customers needs and expectations.
Put forward ideas and assist in the development of standards and procedures

Field Service Engineer - Skills needed
Multi-skilled engineer (electrical bias) or Electrical engineer with 2-3 years experience
Electrical fault finding (wiring, single/3 phase motors, sensors)
Mechanical fault finding (pumps, pipes, valves etc)
Some experience or knowledge of Pneumatics would be advantageous
Competant reading, following and interpreting of electrical wiring drawings and diagrams
Some experience in the maintenance or repair of air handling systems would be advantageous
Electrical qualifications or Electrical Apprenticeship trained
16th/17th edition certification (or working towards) would also be advantageous

In return my client offers an attractive starting package of £28,000 - £34,000 dependant on qualifications and experience, with up to an additional 12% in bonuses, a company van (that you can also use personally), company fuel card, uniform, mobile and laptop. 3% pension contributions (rising to 5.5% with 2 years service) and real opportunities to progress your career to a more senior role. The company also offers an excellent training matrix and support network to new engineers joining the business. This is a days based office hours role, with no call outs or weekend work, however a degree of flexibility is needed due to travel.
