The Organisation Cardiff University Students' Union (CUSU) has a vision of working with every Cardiff student to enhance their university experience. CUSU is based on Park Place and at the Heath Park campus, employing over 100 permanent staff and 300 student staff. The organisation was ranked in the top 100 of the Sunday Times Best Not-for-profit Companies to Work For in 2016, as well as holding Gold status through Investors in People. CUSU aspires to have a positive impact on the wider community in Cardiff and is consistently graded the number one Students' Union in Wales and in the top ten in the UK for student satisfaction. The Job An exciting and challenging opportunity has been created for a Director of Communications to lead the strategic development and management of the Union's marketing and communication initiatives. Key responsibilities will include creating and leading an effective response to the impact of the Centre for Student Life, improving student engagement and increasing commercial performance in advertising, retail and on-line sales. You will be expected to enhance the Union's identity and communications capability in line with strategic objectives and drive an internal and external communications strategy that positively affects employees' and customers' understanding, engagement and commitment. As a member of the Strategic Management Team the successful candidate will also contribute to the overall planning, development and management of the Students' Union. The Person You will hold a degree level qualification in media and communication, marketing, public relations, strategic brand management, journalism or a business related field, and ideally hold a post-graduate management or communications qualification. You will be able to evidence high levels of knowledge, competence and achievement relevant to a communications role in a commercial environment and have significant experience of successful leadership and management.
