STERIS Instrument Management Services is a leading provider of outsourced support services to the healthcare market.
The Instrument Management Services division provides a range of support services to operating theatres, the largest of which is the provision of decontamination services for surgical instruments. STERIS is a world leading provider of contract sterilisation services.
The role will require the ability to demonstrate a high level of quality awareness and adherence to systems and procedures. Communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
The successful applicant will oversee the provision of a high-quality service for cleaning, inspection, assembly and packing of sterile equipment for hospital and community settings.
Previous team leader / supervisory experience is essential.
A detailed outline of the role is as follows: -
1.To effectively and efficiently oversee the preparation of the sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments and equipment) by the process of cleaning, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards
2.To oversee and rigorously check, wash, lay-up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
3.To safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (driers, washers, sterilisers) effectively and efficiently.
4.To oversee that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system.
5.To oversee that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets.
6.To ensure that instruments not recorded on the computer system and supplementary instruments not identified by hospital are correctly tagged and labelled and logged into the system.
7.To proactively monitor evaluate and ensure that operational activities fully comply with required Health and Safety procedures and guidelines.
8.To ensure that all designated staff are kept informed and trained on individual and team health and safety procedures in the workplace.
9.To ensure that designated staff are aware of fire safety procedures and to act as designated area Fire Officer.
10.To participate as an integral member of the sterile processing team and to actively contribute to suggestions on innovation, continuous improvement and best practice.
11.To monitor and ensure that all production processed by designated team conforms to Synergy Healthcare Sterilisation Services quality guidelines and ensuring complete contamination control.
12.To effectively control the use of materials, equipment and consumables within the team wok location, reporting re-occurring faults and informing the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager of any other requirements.
13.To actively assist and support the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager in the planning and operational process.
14.To monitor absence levels, maintaining accurate records and liaising with team members
15.To support and guide team members in line with the principles of Performance Management, setting and reviewing goals, acting as a mentor to the team and identifying training and development needs.
16.To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required.
