Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: North East (up to Scottish Borders), Newcastle or Sunderland
Salary: £26,980 to £30,175 per annum
Job type: Permanent

A field based role covering North East (up to Scottish Borders) providing a premium level of customer service, including remote resolution of issues, the efficient commissioning, repair and modification of hardware and software products within our portfolio, carry out preventative maintenance in accordance with published procedures and instructions. To promote and sell Client products, services and supplies directly to customers and generate sales and supplies revenue.

Efficiently, professionally and economically carry out installations, repairs, preventative maintenance of hardware and software products in accordance with established processes, ensuring quality and professionalism and a positive customer experience

Provide a high standard of operator training and remote support to ensure that the customer maximises their return on investment and minimise operator error failures, reducing the requirement field service site visits

Maintain an effective parts stock to ensure a high level of 1st time repair and ensure their economic use, and a positive customer experience

Support our customers where possible by remote resolution and on site as a trusted adviser, sharing best practice and industry knowledge

Flexibility to work occasionally outside of normal geographic area and normal working hours to provide support to our customers

Actively seek opportunities to promote Client products and services and sell supplies, envelopes and other products within the defined Client product range

Actively participate in team meetings, looking to share best practice and work as part of the Client team to deliver continual improvement

Actively contribute to projects as required applying expertise, industry and customer knowledge to achieve the best outcome

Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Royal Mail procedures and obligations

Accurate recording of data and activity in accordance with established processes

Maintaining awareness and keeping abreast of constantly changing software, hardware systems and peripherals

To participate in ongoing training either online, on telephone, at ‘factory’ or Regional / Head Office, both technical and non-technical

Extensive problem-solving skills, including excellent mechanical, and electronic diagnostic and repair skills and industry recognised qualifications:
B-TEC, Higher National Certificate, City & Guilds or equivalent
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of software products including installation, updating and use
Previous experience in a customer facing engineering role
Excellent telephone manner, with good verbal and written communication skills
Experience of working with IT Networks, LAN, Wi-Fi
Good IT literacy, knowledge of MS office
Exceptional planning, organising and customer facing skills
Must be able to manage own time and work priorities
Ability to be able to provide the correct information to the relevant parties in a timely manner
Full UK driving licence

Knowledge of Operating Systems, Access Database and ODBC connections, SQL database and setting up access rights
Previous experience in a Field Service Role (min 1 year)
Ability to multitask and good time management skills.
Experience in selling products, services or consumables to customers

Non negotiable skills:
At least two year’s experiences in a field service role.
