Expressions of Interest in joining the Governing Body

The Governing Body of Canterbury Christ Church University is responsible for determining the educational character & mission of the University and has oversight of its activities. There will be a small number of vacancies on the Board arising in 2018 (one is immediate and two further vacancies are expected in summer 2018). Each appointment is for a term of office of 4 years.

The University wishes to encourage expressions of interest in joining the Governing Body, and would particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and other minority ethnic and female candidates to enhance the Board's diversity and overall gender balance. We would also welcome expressions of interest from members of the Church of England in view of our Anglican Foundation status and constitutional requirements.

Canterbury Christ Church is a dynamic and friendly university with engaged students & staff and an effective Board consisting of 18 members. The role of a non-executive Governor is not salaried (although expenses are paid), but provides opportunities to contribute to the development of the University working with other members of the Board, the Vice Chancellor and other senior staff.

There are no specific qualifications required of candidates expressing an interest in joining the Governing Body, but all Governors need to have the skills, senior level experience and time to contribute effectively to the work of the Board. It will be advantageous to have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise; legal, finance, risk, marketing and IT.

Further details of the role are available at our website via the button below.

If you would like to express an interest in joining the Governing Body please submit a brief CV and covering letter to Ms Alison Sear (), or by post to the University Solicitor and Clerk of the Governing Body, Canterbury Christ Church University, Rochester House, Canterbury, Kent CT1 1UT by 28 February 2018. If you would like to suggest, in confidence, someone who you think would be a suitable candidate, please get in touch with Alison Sear.
