Strategic Business Analyst Fixed-term, 12-month contract 33,,833 pa Canterbury The University of Kent has initiated a programme of work calledSimplifying Kent, which is reconfiguring working practices, structuresand systems across the institution, and a key part of this is theEnabling IT project. As a result, the University is looking for an experienced andanalytical Strategic Business Analyst to work on the project as part ofits Information Services department and help ensure that technology andinformation is deployed and managed effectively. The University has morethan 500 systems and applications in use, highlighting the scale of theanalysis required in this project-focused role. About the position Working closely with stakeholders and colleagues, our successfulcandidate will take the lead on activities that support phase onedeliverables, including an IT strategy, an Enterprise Architecture, asystems audit, an Integrations Strategy, and a programme of work forphase two. To achieve these goals, your duties will include reviewing andunderstanding the Universitys teaching, research and business unitstrategies, plus exploring the IT requirements of the University atschool, centre and business unit level. You will investigate existing EApractises in other Higher Education institutions and identify value-addapproaches, as well as analysing existing systems to understand whatworks well and what could be improved. Reviewing and reporting on existing integrations that exist betweensystems is also a key component of the role, as is developing anddocumenting the programme of work for phase two. To succeed in this role, you will have: A strong understanding of complex business needs and applyingsystematic analysis and investigation to propose suitable solutions A high level of aptitude in the selection and application ofinformation gathering methods, tools and techniques Excellent IT, interpersonal and communication skills, especiallyverbal and written Familiarity with the application of automated systems to the supportof specific business functions or processes Outstanding project management, organisational and time-management abilities Closing date for applications: January .
