A World Leading Manufacturing company in Lichfield are recruiting NOW for a Design Engineer to work on new product development projects, joining an engineering team delivering a world class portfolio of high performance products. You will come from a mechanical component / assemblies background, ideally with fluid / motion control technologies experience, and have experience on AutoCAD Inventor. In return, they offer a competitive salary plus pension, 25 days holiday + bank holiday, working 37 hours per week.

Job Summary:-

To design and detail pneumatic components and assemblies for new product development projects. This is a key position and the job holder will contribute significantly to the overall business strategy of Engineering Advantage by designing innovative solutions for its global blue chip customers. Supporting the Key Account and Product Managers to fully understand the customers needs and translate these into bespoke solutions/products.

The Role:

Conceptual design and development of new products, pneumatic / fluid control components and assemblies
Generation of 3D CAD models and 2D part / assembly drawings
Generation of BOMs, cost calculations, writing technical reports and creating FMEAs
Design calculations and the application of advanced simulation / CAE techniques
Design of test programs and Design Verification Plans
Creating and delivering technical presentations to customers (both internal and external)
Participating in activities with cross disciplinary project teams
Supporting project leaders with reporting on project progress to the Senior Management Team
Domestic and foreign travel will be required on occasion to support customer meetings and supplier visits

The Suitable Candidate:

HND / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent
Experienced Design Engineer from a mechanical components / assemblies background with AutoCAD Inventor
A proven track record of designing and delivering innovative engineering solutions and products into a variety of sectors and industries
Good knowledge of pneumatic / fluid control components and systems is ideal
Excellent problem solving skills and must possess and be able to demonstrate a flair for creativity and innovation.
Extensive knowledge of a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes is required - preferably machining, plastic injection moulding and die casting.
Diploma in Computer Aided Engineering Design and some practical experience of CAE tools (such as FEA / CFD / Mouldflow) would be advantageous.
Awareness of basic financial measures and principles is also highly desirable.
Able to work on your own initiative and demonstrate excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in order to develop strong long-term relationships with internal and external customers are essential.
