<p>The CAD engineer will prepare a variety of land and marine transportation drawings based on instruction from engineers in line with company and project requirements</p> <p>While the successful applicant will be given, if required, bespoke technical training they will have experience of 2D AutoCAD drafting using CAD blocks, working on behalf of clients within the power generation and transmission sectors. The role includes inputting into land and marine transport feasibility studies, drafting detailed swept path analysis, site visibility splays, and site layout design and installation drawings in line with project requirements.</p> <p>The successful candidate must possess good time management skills ensuring all deadlines are met and good communication skills as the role involves speaking with clients to ascertain exact engineering information. This role would equally suit a CAD Technician looking to progress but remain on CAD long-term, or someone with good CAD skills but who is looking to develop in to a Project Engineer.</p> <p>The CAD Engineer Role</p> <ul> <li>Construction of Transport Configuration drawings in CAD, involving adapting vehicles from within existing drawing library and carrying out detailed Swept Path Analysis considerate of various vehicles.</li> <li>Understand and interpret engineering drawings both internally and those provided by external partners and clients.</li> <li>Understand and interpret topographical survey data and site layouts.</li> <li>Manipulation of mapping data within AutoCAD Map/Civil 3D.</li> <li>Understanding calculations and written instructions from engineers and translate into a CAD drawing.</li> <li>To assist and support engineering colleagues.</li> <li>Uphold Company standards for the preparation of project documentation.</li> </ul> <p>The Candidate will have:</p> <p>Qualifications / Experience – Essential</p> <ul> <li>Relevant Further / Higher Education Qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, Degree).</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years' experience with AutoCAD software.</li> <li>Knowledge of preparing design and engineering drawings using AutoCAD.</li> </ul> <p>Qualifications / knowledge – Desirable</p> <ul> <li>Experience with 3D modelling/point cloud data.</li> <li>Experience with Autodesk packages including (Map or Civil 3D, Vehicle tracking, Revit, 3DS Max Design, Inventor or any other CAD/modelling software.</li> <li>Experience in engineering / transportation sector.</li> <li>Experience of surveying techniques and / or interpreting survey data.</li> </ul> <p>Personal Attributes</p> <ul> <li>Good communicator – written and verbal.</li> <li>Able to work as part of a team and also independently managing your own time.</li> <li>Able to learn new techniques and procedures and propose new methods of work / modifications to existing systems.</li> <li>Able to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions.</li> <li>Highly motivated and well organised with an eye for detail.</li> </ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary.</li> <li>5 weeks paid holiday.</li> <li>Contributory Pension scheme.</li> <li>Childcare Voucher scheme.</li> </ul>
