Head of Communications and Public Relations
Salary: Circa - £63,000 per annum
Fixed-Term contract to 31st March 2020
Secondment requests from local authorities are welcome

If you are a politically astute and creative communications and public relations leader, with the experience, drive and tenacity to deliver success, we want to hear from you.

We are the pan-Midlands partnership of local and combined authorities, local enterprise partnerships and business representatives working with the Department for Transport and its key delivery bodies. The partnership forms the transport component of the Midlands Engine, which is delivering economic growth, and improving productivity and prosperity across the Region. Our strategy for investment in transport infrastructure will power that Midlands Engine. We will create more and better jobs, improve the quality of life for those living in the Midlands, as well as grow international trade and attract even more international businesses to invest in the region; a region that is the largest economic area outside of London and the first to benefit from HS2. We are also on a journey to become one of the first Sub-national transport bodies, giving the Midlands a much greater say over transport strategy and investment.

As our new Head of Communications and Public Relations, you will be expected to drive our communications activity, enabling us to be influential and achieve high levels of positive recognition.

You will be experienced in working in complex partnership and political environments, with a deep knowledge of approaches to communications from strategy through to delivery. You will play a key role in developing our compelling narratives and ensuring they are heard by those who matter, using not only our own channels but working with others to maximise our influence and reach. You will understand the big picture and know how to use individual campaigns and stories to deliver a wider high-profile strategy with quantifiable results. You will also know the value of effective stakeholder management, listening as well as informing, using insight to guarantee success.
Above all you will know how to lead and deliver impactful and influential communications at the right time, through the right channel, to the right people.

For informal enquiries, please contact Maria Machancoses, The Director on 0121 214 7276.
