The Pilot in Penarth is one of Knife & Fork Food Ltd’s four pubs in and around Cardiff, a pub renowned for excellence and innnovation in food delivery and one which is gaining national recognition in the pub industry. We are recruiting for a General Manager for this vibrant, successful pub which has gained an excellent reputation for quality of food, customer service and ambience. Our trade is heavily locally based but we are increasingly attracting a wider audience eager to try us out, as our reputation spreads.  

Candidates must have proven experience in all areas of pub management and must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, combined with an enthusiastic and positive approach to business. A hands on job, for someone with a love of the industry, good food, wines and ales. A desire to drive business and continue to support the local Penarth community is essential. 

This is a full time, permanent position

Competitive basic salary dependant on experience, plus a profit related bonus.

Responsibilities include:

Co-ordinating the entire operation of the pub during opening hours, working in close conjunction with the Head Chef and management team

Promoting excellent standards of customer service

Assuming responsibility for the business performance of the pub, agreeing budgets with senior management and controlling stocktakes  

Recruiting and overseeing the training of new employees as well as on-going training with existing staff

Managing, motivating, supervising, appraising and disciplining staff

Ensuring excellent levels of cleanliness & hygiene and actioning maintenance issues

Completing all company paperwork and respond efficiently to information required of you

Ensuring at all times the security of company money and stock

Abiding by all Health & Safety and Fire regulations & being aware of, and recording risks in the building

Organise regular fire & evacuation training

Incentivising staff and being proactive in event planning ideas
