Telford (Notional base)  - Interim period at Stafford or Shrewsbury with travel between sites
Salary £30,500

An opportunity has arisen for an Health and Safety Officer to join our existing Health and Safety team!

Responsibilities: 

In this role you will provide advice and guidance on matters in respect of the obligations placed on employers in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974 and all other relevant legislation. You will conduct internal and third party Health and Safety / Fire Safety / Food Safety Audits and Inspections as directed, compile and issue reports and ensure these are followed up, management are advised of business risk and actions are taken to manage the risk. 

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager You will also be responsible for ensuring that a risk based approach is taken to Health and Safety inspections and audits and their findings / action plans across the Group. To ensure that all Health & Safety incidents are investigated and where necessary, reported to necessary bodies (e.g. HSE) in accordance with relevant legislation and good practice. Undertake Health & Safety inductions and deliver basic safety related training.  

Requirements:

Working knowledge of all relevant current H&S legislation and a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent

Experience of working within Health and Safety in a high risk organisation where a risk based approach is taken for example; Care and Support, Housing and/or construction

Knowledge of working with fire safety, legionella and asbestos risks is required

A proven track record of developing and implementing health and safety improvements at an operational level
