Volunteer Development Officer – £24,000 pa initially on a 1-year fixed term full time Contract

Cycling UK’s vision is for a healthier, happier and cleaner world, because more people cycle. We want people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be able to cycle safely, easily and enjoyably.

Our charitable activities span a wide range of programmes: from promoting participation in cycling through groups, rides and individually; lobbying for relevant cycling infrastructure and safety through our Space for Cycling campaign; and via community based cycling initiatives to enable communities to adopt cycling as a means transport and realise the economic, health and wellbeing benefits, through projects such as the Big Bike Revival. Every year we help 100s of thousands of people to take up cycling and to cycle more.

As the Volunteer Development Officer in the new Volunteer Network team, you will work to support the growth of Cycling UK’s network of volunteers and groups across the UK, both reviewing and improving existing support structures, as well as innovating and developing new ways of working and opportunities to inspire, engage and recognise the volunteers and groups delivering cycling across the UK.

You will have experience of developing volunteering structures, policies and programmes from scratch and be passionate about maximizing the impact of our charitable work. You will be experienced in managing and motivating volunteers, will have developed tools and training to better equip them and will have knowledge in how to measure the impact of volunteers for a charity.
