Purchasing Administrator Procurement Manager

Dale Leisure Supplies is the UK's leading supplier of inventory packs, display packs, bedding, electricals and housekeeping equipment to Holiday Parks throughout the UK and Europe. We are looking for a Procurement Manager to join our growing company.

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct a full review of existing procurement processes and systems
  • Make recommendations for improvements to systems/processes to become more effective overall
  • First and foremost, develop a purchasing strategy and analyse our buying habits and trends to help create a streamlined process
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality of product
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers and relevant internal departments
  • Implement and manage supplier agreements, build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers and handle negotiations keenly.
  • Have an understanding of and keep up with new trends and products within the company’s product range
  • Have an understanding of factors which can affect product pricing including exchange rates, shipping duties, government imposed taxes, etc.
  • Help with identifying the company’s stock requirements, create purchase orders and communicate with  
  • suppliers to confirm delivery dates
  • Attend meetings, trade shows/conferences
  • Travel to supplier’s premises may be required
  • Oversee the work of other members of staff within the buying team
  • Assist with the day to day purchasing requirements of the company to cover annual leave

Person requirements

The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the procurement process
  • Have experience in forecasting long term product requirements
  • Drive effective cost reductions throughout the business where possible
  • Be meticulous, organised with a strong attention to detail.
  • Have a professional manner and have excellent communication skills which they can adapt to people at all levels.
  • Be able to establish and maintain positive supplier relationships
  • Have a proactive and positive approach with strong analytical skills for facts and figures
  • A flair for negotiation and networking
  • The ability to make important decisions and cope with pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines

Skill Set

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role essential
  • Good problem solving skills with the ability to identify cost efficient solutions to problems
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong IT skills with previous experience of Microsoft Office Software
  • Experience in Sage Accounts and Sage Batch Controller/Manufacturing is advantageous
  • CIPS training advantageous
