Job Introduction

Are you mad about football? Do you know your De Bruynes from your De Geas?

The Manchester Evening News is hiring a Manchester United/ Manchester City video producer to help revolutionise our football video content.

We cover two of the world's biggest clubs, and have over 7 million followers across our social media channels. We're looking for someone who can create amazing, engaging videos to drive even more growth in our audience.

Added to that we've recently launched our weekly online Manchester City show, Talking City, as well as our weekly United and City podcasts. With more content ideas planned for the months ahead, it's an exciting time to be involved.

The Manchester Evening News is part of Trinity Mirror PLC, and is one of the UK's largest multimedia publishers, with an award-winning portfolio of 5 national and 130 regional titles and over 500 digital products. At Trinity Mirror Regionals, we are digital first and audience-focused.

Our journalists and titles consistently win awards for agenda-setting news and innovative storytelling, allowing readers to explore information via bespoke digital tools or live blogging and video to cover breaking news and sport. We are experts at using social media and pride ourselves on the digital training and development available to our journalists.

Other Responsibilities

Well, we're looking for a digital native brimming with ideas who loves football and understands the kind of content that works across different social media platforms.

You'll be a confident self-starter with a keen eye for design and the ability to shoot and edit your own footage using everything from iPhones and DSLRs to production cameras.

You'll have a strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects, as well as excellent grammar and an obsession with accuracy.

You'll understand the digital landscape, keep up to date with online trends, and thrive under pressure.

Sound like you? We hope so, because the successful candidate will have an incredible opportunity to transform the way we cover sport through video - and they'll be joining a fantastic team, too!

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong editing skills and instinct for transforming stats and data in great videos that people want to watch and share.
  • The ability to create videos quickly, and react to breaking news and trending topics.
  • The ability to create high-quality video from scratch without supervision.
  • Strong social media knowledge, with a keen eye for what works and what doesn't on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and other platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and other Adobe Creative Suite software is a must.
  • Awareness of legal issues around filming and editing, particularly around copyright.
  • Knowledge of professional audio recording techniques is a distinct advantage.
  • By its very nature, the job requires some weekend and evening work, so you must have a flexible approach to shifts.
