Accountant with a professional certification or previous experience in a relevant position is needed by our client, the world's largest Contract Research Organisation to be based in Margate. Their services range across research, testing, clinical support and manufacturing.

With over 11,000 employees throughout 70 facilities in 16 countries, they are on a mission to improve human and animal health through humane laboratory testing and research, and developing new therapeutics. Their notable work has been featured in national press on many occasions.

Clients include those in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine and Agrochemical industries.

The Role
Manage the monthly and annual accounting close
Monitor cash flow requirements
Analyse financial data to evaluate past and project future performance
Interpret financial data for managers to help make economic & business decisions
Prepare VAT returns, tax packs & tax returns
Lead the external audit process
Prepare periodic local GAAP adjustments journals, balance sheet account reconciliations & group reporting schedules
Prepare government statistical forms and address corresponding queries
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Mentor staff where needed

Essential Skills
University degree in a business related subject
Experience with Lean/Six Sigma or similar process
Good working knowledge of local GAAP
Understanding of local country taxation
Good understanding of ERP systems (specifically SAP and Consolidation software)
Excellent Excel skills
Experience working in a large corporate environment
Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP (desirable)

Aptitude for complex problem-solving
Excellent interpersonal communication skills in English (written, verbal & reading)
Ability to read complex data or accounting guidance and extract relevant information or translate into accounting policies
Staff management skills (over internal and external teams)

Salary: £33,000 - £38,000
