Our Ports, Coastal and Offshore team provide consultancy and advice on the planning, development and ongoing provision of the full spectrum of coastal and estuarine related projects. Our team has extensive experience in assessing the issues arising on coasts and estuaries in order to produce viable, affordable and sustainable solutions. Currently we're working across the UK and overseas in the Caribbean, Dubai, Hong Kong, South Africa and India. Through providing our customers with a range of technical expertise in areas such as Coastal Business Cases and Strategies, we deliver best practice for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) and additional areas including appraisal guidance, coastal science assessments of coastal processes, geomorphology, environmental enhancement, and living shorelines, shoreline management planning and integrated coastal zone management, and coastal engineering.

Will you help us in coastal science and FCERM projects?

We are looking for an experienced Coastal Engineer/Scientist (FCERM-AG Specialist). This position represents a key addition to our well-established coastal specialists working as part of our Ports, Coastal and Offshore business. You will be a high performer working closely with a range of coastal project teams focusing on delivering technical excellence, leading multi-disciplinary teams and guiding projects to successful delivery.

What will you be doing each day?

Managing Projects

You'll be involved in all the fine details for a portfolio of projects managing resources, programme finances, deliverables and commercial matters.

Leadership

You will be leading and contributing to the technical aspects of various strategic studies covering ICZM, SMP, business cases and resulting flood schemes.

Building business, building staff

You'll be engaged in additional business development processes. This can involve anything from business development planning, customer engagement and delivering winning tenders. Not only will you help to build our business, but you will also help to build our current team of engineers by mentoring and developing staff through training and performance development reviews.

Have you got what it takes?

We're looking for someone who has excellent experience in successful project management and integrating with multidisciplinary delivery teams. You're the kind of person with excellent stakeholder engagement skills interacting both with the public and with partnership funding. Your knowledge and understanding of coastal/ estuary processes, coastal flooding issues/ risk assessments, numerical modelling and outline scheme development means you are the 'go to' person in a knowledge sharing environment. But knowledge isn't everything because you'll need to have experience of producing business cases and Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.

You'll need to have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • Experience producing coastal scheme strategic studies or business cases
  • Experience of bid preparation and business development

Additionally, it would be great if you have already obtained you chartership status with a relevant professional institution. Also, any additional overseas experience be advantageous.
