Mechanical engineer

Mott MacDonald's highly successful Water and Environment Unit is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mott MacDonald Bentley team, in Blackburn and help to support our work with United Utilities. We are building a team to help support UU and deliver the next stages of the AMP6 period. We are looking for proactive and ambitious Mechanical Engineers to join our successful design and build organisation.

Your role will involve the following;

• Ensure project deliverables meet the agreed standards of the design strategy
• Produce technical schedules and data sheets
• Engineering calculations that include hydraulic calculations, pump hydraulic calculations, structural calculations, and carbon calculations
• Support the regular design meetings
• Provide and maintain an estimate for design works needed
• Work with relevant engineers and the Design Managers, within the team to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked and approved

You must be able to demonstrate the following;

• Excellent working knowledge of the water and waste water treatment processes within the UK water sector
• Full understanding of mechanical conceptual design and optioneering
• Full understanding of mechanical detailed design
• You must be degree qualified or equivalent to BEng Mechanical Engineering
• Proven client liaison and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness
• Experience of delivering design projects to program
• Demonstrable experience of delivering innovation
• Proactive approach, with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios
