Senior Software Engineer

Software Engineer/ Software Developer / OOD / C / C++ / C# / Python / Java

Senior Software Engineer with a strong mix of technical skills is needed by our client, one of UK's leading software companies specialising in solutions for the road and rail sectors to be based in their Trowbridge offices.

They develop bespoke applications of various types, from Web based information systems to embedded real time control systems. Their work is engineering-based with an emphasis on Quality, particularly as many applications are safety related.

In the role you will be developing a variety of software projects with a strong focus on C++ and C# but you will also get exposure to Python and Java as well.

They are looking for somebody with the following qualities and experience:

• Aptitude for problem solving and ability to quickly pick up new concepts/technologies
• Experience of requirements analysis, software design, implementation and testing
• ensuring that other more junior engineers adhere to quality standards and approved working practices
• Experience of team leading/project management
• Strong technical skills in current and evolving languages and technologies and ability to pass on knowledge to those working around them
• Good interpersonal skills, with some previous experience in a client-facing role
• Work experience in BS EN ISO9001/Safety related, MOD, Aerospace, Defence, or Rail real-time systems

Required technical skills:

• Object Oriented Design, UML, XML
• Knowledge of Communications Protocols/Internet Technologies (TCP/IP, Network sockets, HTTP, HTML)
• Programming experience on Windows and Linux platforms
• Languages: C, C++, C#, and knowledge of Python and Java very desirable.

Other Desirable Skills:
BS EN 50128, Oracle APEX, Django, Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite, PHP, Android/iOS app development, Xamarin, Embedded/Microcontroller development.
