The Strategy, Oversight and Reporting team is a newly created team to: * Support the Head of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and the function discharge their legal and regulatory obligations. * Assist the FCC function to execute its obligation to be the focal point for all activity in the country relating to financial crime. * Deliver an effective reporting and oversight capability enables the Financial Crime Risk (FCR) function to deliver oversight to relevant governance committees. * Collaborate with other teams within FCC and FCR. * Lead on the following areas: + Financial crime risk management and analysis; + UK FCR governance; + Strategy and regulatory engagement. Your responsibilities will include: * Leading on regulatory engagement/interaction with FCA and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) - draft responses to regulatory correspondence, lead on preparation for regulatory meetings. * Reporting to Global and Regional stakeholders and committees. * Keeping abreast of legal and regulatory developments (e.g. FCA consultations) and ensure UK FCR are prepared for implementation, including close liaison with Group Public Affairs and Financial Crime Threat Mitigation. * Horizon scanning internal and external developments * Leading on preparing and co-ordinating the response to the FCA Financial Crime Return * Leading on preparing and co-ordinating the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) Report. * The implementation of the Senior Managers Regime within UK FCR and ensuring the Head of FCC continues to comply with the obligations under the regime * Ensuring UK FCR is aligned to business strategy - responding to UK bank (e.g. 2020 vision), Global (e.g. FCR) and line of business (LoB) strategy. * Developing and implementing UK FCR strategy, vision, mission statement. * Undertaking financial crime risk management and analysis which will involve considering themes, root causes, cross LoB or policy issues and the relative significance of significance of issues e.g. delivery and co-ordination of the Enterprise Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) framework; analysis of reportable events (IRIS), MI reports, performance metrics. * Driving strategic actions resulting from testing reports e.g. Audit, Assurance * Verbal and written briefings for senior management on financial crime risks and issues. * Internal reporting to Global, Regional and Country committees. * Providing regular and ad hoc risk steward reports on FCR matters. * Supporting on providing the secretariat function for UK FCR governance committees. * Supporting ad hoc projects and tasks. The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications: * Be a seasoned professional with experience in one or more financial crime roles. * Have extensive knowledge of Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Anti-Bribery and Corruption (AB&C) and sanctions, and application to relevant lines of business. * Have significant experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a large financial institution. * Have track record of delivery of significant change agenda. * Have proven ability to manage multiple issues and priorities and demonstrated judgement and poise in challenging circumstances. * Be a lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues. * Have excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and strong inter-personal and influencing skills. * Be flexible and adaptable to support the responsibilities of the team and wider function. * Have previous experience of HSBC Group structure, its business and personnel, and culture would be an advantage. * Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences. * Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same. * A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting. * A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes. We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
