Your new company A national regulatory body working within the healthcare sector as seeking an experienced professional to join their Cardiff office as Policy and External Affairs Officer, on a permanent basis Your new role As Policy and External Affairs Officer, you work alongside the manager to support and promote the organisation's political, policy and public affairs based activities in Wales. You will be an expert in Welsh political and health policy landscape, proactively monitoring developments and providing extensive advice and briefings to colleagues as required. You will work alongside the manager to ensure the organisation's work is promoted and understood by key stakeholder groups, ensuring that the organisation engages in a positive, balanced and well informed manner. You will draft consultation responses, policy papers and briefings and have a key role in ensuring that colleges are aware of political, policy and legislative developments in Wales that have the potential to impact the organisation's work. What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in external affairs, stakeholder management / communications or policy, ideally in a health environment. You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the Wales political and health policy landscapes. You will be able to understand the legislative framework and political environment in which healthcare regulators operate, including the issues that surround health and medical profession. You will show an understanding of Welsh Language issues, with the ability the speak welsh highly desirable but not essential. In addition you will show the expected time management and planning skills, coupled with the ability to analyse and interpret complex information as appropriate to audience. The salary is paying up to 32,000 per annum, with salaries of up to GBP35,000 considering for exceptional applications. This role is based in their Cardiff Bay offices. Hours are 35 hours a week with the opportunity to work flexibly. Annual leave starts at 25days, increasing every year to a maximum of 30 days, with the option to buy/sell leave.
