Senior Payroll Manager - Edinburgh

Salary c. GBP50,000 - GBP60,000 + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a leading financial services business in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.

Purpose:

The successful candidate will join an established business during an exciting period of development and change. The role holder will be responsible for controlling all operational aspects of Payroll and the running of an established payroll team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Managing the provision of a comprehensive support service to the business, providing effective leadership to team members and contributing to strategic direction
  • Managing operational oversight for business systems, payroll and HR Process Framework; ensuring requirements and service levels are met within budget
  • Ensuring Business continuity plans are in place for HR Systems and Payroll
  • Ensuring Payroll have effective controls around all payroll processes and activities
  • Delivery of internal reporting requirements
  • Delivery of payroll elements of annual, cyclical and other projects as required
  • Operational Management of all incidents relating to the HR and Payroll Systems in line with the incident management process
  • Managing Stakeholder engagement and colleague communications as required in the event of any high impact incidents
  • Operational and end user testing of changes or fixes to Payroll Systems
  • Ensuring all financial reconciliations and transfers relating to payroll are accurately completed to time
  • Maintaining an awareness of what is happening in the payroll industry and up to date knowledge of current and new legislation impacting payroll and ensure this knowledge is shared with team and communicated where appropriate
  • Providing advice and guidance to other areas of HR in relation to payroll impacts of changes to policy and/or benefits
  • People Leadership - Taking the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees
  • Overseeing HR Systems and Payroll Risk management

Experience:

The successful candidate will possess significant experience and expert knowledge of managing a large payroll, be able to manage complex queries and demonstrate strong people management and leadership skills. A background working within financial services or alternatively a regulated environment would also be desirable.

  • Professional payroll qualification eg CIPP
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to make decisions and drive through change
  • Experience of managing a large team or multiple teams - ability to lead, motivate, develop and interact well with team members
  • Highly assertive, interactive and has the ability to work under pressure.
  • Analytical and an excellent problem solver.
