Job Title: Management Accountant

Location: Huddersfield

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 dependent on qualifications and experience

The firm is currently recruiting a Management Accountant for their well-established practice based in Huddersfield town centre. The practice is looking for an ACA/ACCA qualified Accountant whose experience includes a minimum of 2 years' working and/or training within an accountancy practice. You must be a good all-rounder, willing to learn new areas and be able to work under your own initiative. The role would suit an ambitious newly qualified accountant looking for a developing role; someone who can lead the growth and development of the firm's management accounts service provision.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for looking after a portfolio of clients already using our management accounts service and will be tasked with improving efficiencies of the compliance service in this area.

The role will include delivering value added projects to these clients which in turn improves our relationship and compliance delivery. Such value added projects might include detailed margin analysis, reconfiguring a chart of accounts to provide more valuable management information etc.

Our ideal candidate should be able to:

The successful candidate must have experience of preparing management accounts on site at client premises across a number of software packages. High level skills in the advanced functions of Excel spreadsheets are also required.

  • Prepare monthly / quarterly accounts for businesses in both service and manufacturing sectors with turnovers ranging from c£1m - £7m
  • Prepare and review VAT returns
  • Prepare detailed financial forecasts for use as budget comparisons in management accounts
  • Process a payroll from a set of detailed system notes if holiday / sick cover was needed for a client
  • Communicate well with clients and colleagues
  • Inspire trust and confidence from day one
  • Work confidently with various computer and accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Pegasus and IRIS
  • Work in a team to ensure deadlines are met
