Sessional Independent Living Skills Lecturer

Location: Milton KeynesHours: Sessional - 3 week courses (5 mornings and 2 afternoons)Salary: GBP23.52 (per delivery hour)Closing date: 27 th October 2017 Milton Keynes College offender learning team are seeking an experienced lecturer to deliver an independent living course to a diverse group of learners. The course is designed to enable learners to be able to cook for themselves and manage food costs to a given budget. The course is run every morning, Monday to Friday, for three weeks with a cohort of eight learners. There is an opportunity to develop an outreach programme for wider independent living skills such as washing and ironing clothes and microwave cookery and this will be delivered on a roll on roll off basis to learners on their wing. There are 6 planned courses until the end of July 2018. This is an exciting time for prison education and this is a great opportunity to experience prison teaching as a sessional tutor.The successful candidate will be passionate and dedicated to teaching with the flexibility to be scheduled to work on an ad-hoc basis. You will be a team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal. The education department currently enjoys a 95% success rate across all of its courses. A broad curriculum is offered to support prisoners to gain Functional Skills in English and maths, employability skills and independent living skills.As a successful candidate you will have???A relevant degree or equivalent qualificationA full or part teaching qualification (PTLLS, DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed) or willing to work towardsTeaching/training or vocational experience in a relevant discipline/subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge.A proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes.Experience of identifying, developing and sharing innovative and creative teaching resources.Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).Knowledge of current curriculum and accreditation developments within Further Education and specific subject area(s).The ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of learners and willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies.A good level of IT literacy and willing to develop further.Accuracy and precision in written presentation.More about the CollegeMilton Keynes College is proud to be an open and inclusive general Further Education College welcoming learners of all levels and delivering an exceptional educational experience.
