About Barclaycard Digital Office

The Barclaycard Design & Digital Office team continually drives advancement of digital across Barclaycard. Working across the Digital life cycle from Strategy and Solutions to Delivery & Deployment of products that are customer centred, commercially viable and innovation led.

About Experience Design Team

The Experience Design team provides customer interaction designs across all of Barclaycard's online and mobile channels, working closely with business, technical and design colleagues to deliver digital experiences that are forward thinking, best in class and fully customer focused.

Overall purpose of role

The role will be to plan and develop user interactions and experiences for Barclaycard customers across Barclaycard's digital channels and platforms. You will take required business outcomes and design concepts and solutions that bring them to life, and create design specifications to gain business agreement and enable technical teams to deliver them. You will also provide inspiring leadership to build and maintain a highly effective Experience Design team that adds real value across the Barclaycard digital estate.

Key Accountabilities

You will be accountable for:

  • Leading the Experience Design Team; defining strategies to continually improve team practices, deliver increased value and promotion of the team beyond its current remit.
  • Delivering digital experiences, meeting business and customer needs within project quality, time and cost constraints.
  • Producing research, sketches, wireframes, journeys, maps, personas, prototypes, etc. to drive discussions, gain stakeholder approval and communicate development and testing requirements.
  • Undertaking user testing to validate team concepts and designs.
  • Challenging business propositions, providing clear reasoning and evidence, when it appears opinion rather than data is driving a project direction.
  • Working with many different disciplines eg analysts, developers, risk, security, to promote shared understanding of the problem domain and create end-to-end solutions that meet all requirements.
  • Creation, promotion and implementation of opportunities to improve both external customer experiences and internal customer/own team performance and quality.
  • Ensuring all outputs adhere to all relevant policies and standards eg channel, brand, design language.
  • Produce concept work inline business visions and strategies and their communication back to senior management

Person Specification

You must:

  • Have strong knowledge, understanding and experience of UX deliverables and knowledge of their use in appropriate context to promote understanding of the problem domain and buy-in of design solutions.
  • Have excellent knowledge and understanding of UI practices and a good technical development skills and knowledge in the core digital technologies eg HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android and iOS.
  • You will have experience in multichannel customer contact and servicing contexts to drive positive customer experiences.
  • Be autonomous, proactive and adaptable and able to work either alone or as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplined, agile team.
  • Be fully client/customer focused at all times employing data to inform and validate designs decisions
