The Galloway News is looking for an enthusiastic senior reporter to join our busy newsroom. This role will focus on delivering high quality, compelling and accurate content for our print and digital platforms.

The role will be based in our Dumfries newsroom which is part of the Trinity Mirror plc group. Trinity Mirror plc, has an award winning portfolio of newspapers, websites and digital products and is one of the UK's largest multimedia companies employing more than 6,000 people across more than 60 locations around the country.

• Sourcing original stories and features for print and digital
• Building strong contacts in local communities
• Using social media to spot and generate stories and identify relevant trending content
• Working effectively under deadline pressure

• You'll possess a NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification
• Excellent writing skills and experience writing professionally
• You will be motivated by the challenge of producing stories ready for print and digital audiences
• Recognised training in media law
• Comfortable at getting out and about and making contacts
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Energy, enthusiasm and self-motivation
• Up-to-date legal and IPSO Code knowledge
• Full driving licence
