- Job Duties

- Regularly analyse and review risk rates for all GI products, having regard to changes in detailed claim results by peril and rating factor in particular postcode. Conduct research and development of new statistical approaches to pricing, improving our ability to price and attract profitable business segments.
- Regularly analyse and review customer behaviour for all GI products. In particular conversion, cancellation and retention behaviour. Ensure these models can be used to support retail pricing, including price optimisation, and targeted marketing.
- Take ownership for the delivery of Lifetime Value and work effectively with Marketing teams to optimise the benefit from marketing campaigns, and advise on design and analysis.
- Develop and maintain regular formal reports and reporting systems on pricing, lifetime value and campaigns, for use by the management and throughout the Pricing Department.
- Maintain expertise in availability of internal and external data for pricing purposes. Identify and propose improvements as appropriate.
- Work effectively with the Retail Pricing and projects functions to maximise the Pricing team's overall contribution to the business.
- Define, develop and maintain appropriate documentation to demonstrate compliance with procedures and controls.
- Reflect the needs and expectations of customers aligned to LGI's Customer Experience and TCF Policy.
- Ensure others using statistical techniques and tools have access to appropriate expertise and training as well as best practice guides.
- Skills Required
- Qualifications:
- Statistics graduate qualification or equivalent
Knowledge:
- Technical
- Detailed understanding and current knowledge of statistical techniques and their practical business application, in particular to insurance business.
- Working knowledge of underwriting techniques and principles in particular for the lines written by L&GI.
- Awareness of new developments, areas of research and their potential impact.
- Awareness of statistical techniques used in marketing campaign management.
- Systems
- Good knowledge of relevant PC Software and management information systems.
- Working knowledge of GI's administration systems and IT infrastructure.
- Awareness of new developments and potential impact.
- Regulatory and Legal
- Full and current knowledge of relevant statutory regulation and guidance (professional, FSA and other).
- Awareness of accounting & legal issues.
- Risk
- Understanding of risk management techniques relevant to the sound prudent management of an insurance company.
- Detailed understanding of pricing and underwriting techniques.
- Market
- Familiarity with the wider financial services market.
- Good knowledge of competitor products, pricing and performance.
- Product
- Understanding of product features, the sales and underwriting process and associated risks.
- Awareness of the policy administration and claims handling processes.
- L&G
- Awareness of L&G Insurance, LGAS and related group functions.
- Good knowledge of L&G Board & Committee structure, policies, procedures and controls.
Skills:
- Analysis, statistical inference and GLMs
