The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint an individual to lead the teaching of Engineering Design at undergraduate level taking responsibility for the development and delivery of our teaching in Mechanical Engineering Design. You will facilitate and contribute to the delivery of high quality, industrially-relevant design teaching and ensure high levels of student satisfaction. You will employ a range of teaching approaches to develop in students the underlying skills and project based experience of the design process. You will be based in the Mechanical and Process stream within the School of Engineering and will be expected to lead and direct the participation of other members of staff in delivery of design teaching and practice to students. The School’s ethos is to deliver discipline specific engineering degree programmes built on a general engineering education in the early years, therefore our design projects are expected to reflect this. You will be able to work with senior management in the School, other stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that our design education is properly facilitated. The School is transforming its teaching infrastructure in Design through a £5M investment to create a new Engineering Build Centre to enable students to realise their ideas both as part of their formal education and via private study. Therefore, this is a particularly exciting time to join the School and have the opportunity to build a teaching programme in Engineering Design on state-of-the-art facilities.

The University aims to promote work life balance for all employees and the School of Engineering will consider a range of possible flexible working arrangements in order to recruit the best candidate.
