About the role
Balfour Beatty has an excellent opportunity for an IDC IDR Co-ordinator to join our Rail team on an exciting new project based in Newport.

In this role the successful candidate will be the point of contact for receipt of all multi-disciplinary information and dialogue with the other design organisations involved within the allocated business unit/project, including OLE, track, stations, civils, line of route, telecoms, signalling, earthing and bonding, etc. Responsible for coordinating the LDO team, gathering relevant design information, ensuring the right format is used, you will also chair and steer meetings, capturing and articulating relevant actions.

What you'll be doing

As an IDC IDR Co-ordinator you will:

  • Have a general overall knowledge of the various railway infrastructure disciplines and how they interact / interface with each other.
  • Assist the Design Integration Manager, Project Planner and wider team with the Design elements of the Integrated Programme. Obtain agreement from the other design organisations that they can provide information and deliverables in accordance with the timescales to meet the overall integrated programme. Advise the CEM where other design organisation advise they cannot deliver to the agreed dates or provide information late.
  • Chair Design Integration meetings including IDC's ensuring other design organisations are invited. Advise the Design Integration Manager and the CEM where other design organisations do not support the design integration process.
  • Liaise with the CAD Manager as required regarding the update and maintenance of the CAD 3D model from a design integration perspective for his /her allocated geographic area.
  • Development and maintenance of Master Interface schedules and Master IDC actions registers. Review and chase progress on closing out actions and advise Design Integration Manager and CEM where progress of other designers closing out their issues is threatening the overall programme. Review BBR (Balfour Beatty Rail) internal issues with the Senior Design Manager for progress.
  • Montior the progress of receiving information from the other design organisations against the Integrated design program. Where necessary remind the other design organisations of the requirement to provide information as per the agreed programme. Where other design organisations advise they cannot deliver by the agreed date or are late in providing information the Design Integration manager / CEM are to be advised.
  • Provide information to the Senior Design Manager on integration issues that need to progressed in
    design packages. From time to time attend Design Development meetings to see that such issues are being processed.
  • Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes.
  • As good understanding of Group standards, procedures and HSE legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage interfaces.



Who we're looking for
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have knowledge of the IDC (Inter-disciplinary Check) process and responsibilities.
  • Be a graduate or hold a HND.
  • Hold a professional qualification
  • Have programme management skills
  • Have knowledge of Company responsibilities under 14001.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the design process.
  • Previous experience in a Rail Design Engineer role.
  • Previous experience of CRE Deputy duties.
  • Have presented at IDC's and IDR's.
