A Manchester based fashion supplier is looking to recruit a Mens Knitwear Designer

Your new company
A leading UK fashion supplier to the high-street. They produce ranges of trend led menswear knitwear and are based in Greater Manchester. They operate from a modern head office that is well located and has excellent transport links. They now have an opportunity for a Menswear Knitwear Designer to join their team. They are looking for someone to produce trend-led knitwear designs their high-street accounts will love in line with the critical path.

Your new role
You will ensure that you remain on top of knitwear trends; you will do this by researching both online and through comp shops and inspiration trips; you will identify trends in colour, yarns, pattern and shapes. You will translate this trend information into commercial designs, producing detailed CAD artwork with supporting technical specs to send into the factories ready for production. You may often be present at customer meetings to advise on trends and talk through your designs. You will communicate daily with your supply base in the Far East, other departments in your company such as QA and sales, and regularly speak with your customers - these communications will be in person, over the phone, over email and over video conference.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you should have demonstrable experience in a menswear design role. You should have a good knowledge of knitwear yarns and knits which covers gauges, machines and stitches. You should be confident and resilient and have excellent communication, time management and relationship building skills. You should be trained in either Photoshop, Illustrator, Kaledo knitwear software or similar.
