About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Rail team to work in Derby.
What you'll be doing
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will:
- Understand the purpose, value and high level functions of our rail measurement system products
- Contribute to delivering measurement system projects within time, cost and quality constraints
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary project team to understand project requirements, establish system and sub-system architectures, select design concepts and produce system block diagrams
- Collaborate with Project Managers and be their day to day representative for the Electronics Team
- Determine system scope and specify interfaces within the physical electrical system, and interfaces on its boundary to the mechanical or software systems, to facilitate good systems integration
Who we're looking for
You will:
- Hold a, minimum, 2:1 degree in an Engineering or relevant Science-based discipline
- Have electrical system design experience, ideally for vehicle applications (e.g. rail, automotive, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, military, etc.)
- Be experienced in the systems engineering approach and multidisciplinary teams on complex projects
- Be experienced in a modular system design approach for ease of assembly, reuse and sub-system test
- Be experienced in electrical system design in areas such as datalink communications, power distribution & protection, industrial computing, electrical interfacing, signal integrity, EMC, grounding, etc
