Risk Analytics - What We Do:
• Protect Barclays from a volatile and weak external environment by managing risk appetite and mandate and scales at appropriate levels, and ensuring that activity across products and geographies takes into account external developments
• Streamline our risk approval and oversight processes by understanding our processes back to front, reducing delivery time and automating where possible

Overall purpose of role
• Participating in a team of analysts, performing complex analyses of credit risk, specialising in scorecard development for collections and limit / portfolio management as well as modelling Impairment and Capital for all portfolios across the Barclays UK (BUK) division
Key Accountabilities
• Model Development and Analytics responsibilities across the BUK division
• Provide business with insights and recommendations in order to improve strategy and process
• Opportunity to lead modelling projects end-to-end.
• Identify and use cutting edge techniques to develop best in class decision tools.
• Share and seek out best practice across the modelling areas to develop self and mentor colleagues, to support the creation of a world class team.
• Develop high-standard SAS code and model documentation. Delivering robust, predictive models and tools that are compliant with both internal and external regulations.
• Deliver high levels of accuracy and internal consistency/validation within own projects and provide support for colleagues with their projects
• Ensure accurate implementation of models and support their use, interpretation and monitoring
• Work closely with the model monitoring team and IVU (Internal Validation unit) to support timely and insightful model approval and performance tracking, enabling the business to make rapid credit decisions against market condition changes
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
• Participation with stakeholders across the business in order to understand their issues, objectives and priorities; suggest and discuss potential solutions
• Help to communicate the results of the models developed or other analytics to business owners; help to drive business actions based on the results
• Help manage the trade-off between tactical and strategic to meet customer needs
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• Identify opportunities to improve the models and processes in order to maximize value
• Be pro-active in identifying and analysing the value of incremental information sources
Risk and Control Objective
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Essential
• A good knowledge of data analysis, theory and multivariate statistical techniques (e.g. Logistic Regression).
• An ability to produce reports and interrogate systems to produce analysis and resolve discrepancies/queries.
Preferred
• Expertise in the use of SAS Stat procedures such as "LOGISTIC", "REG" and "SCORE"
• Ability to act as 'Team Expert' in a specialist knowledge area of analytics that will complement the detailed knowledge of other team members.
• Full understanding of Credit Risk Processes and Strategies, including knowledge of credit loss provisioning.
• A good understanding of the Group's Model Risk Policy.
• An understanding of the fundamental principles of the Basel II Accord and / or of IAS 39 / IFRS9.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred completion of a degree or equivalent in statistics, mathematics, operations research or related area or significant relevant experience
