Pearson Finance Services: Pearson Finance Services (PFS) is a dedicated finance centre established in 2016 to support the Pearson finance structure across the globe. It's main remit is to produce reports and data to help our business partnering teams, giving insights and information needed to add real value to the business. PFS staff provide consistent and standardised metrics, unified global reporting and forward planning data to Finance Business Partners and Financial Controllers across the globe. The main scope of PFS includes general accounting, reporting, controlling, revenue and pricing.
Department :North America Business Partnering
This department provides financial support to the US team higher education sales team.
Responsibilities:
- Complete the processing of all technical responsibilities in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
- Contribute efficiently and effectively to team activities to ensure all team workloads are managed appropriately
- Help to create a work atmosphere conducive to a high degree of integrity and teamwork
- Maintain Stakeholder satisfaction by promptly following up on requests for information.
- Ensure performance targets are met and service is delivered to end users as expected
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovative solutions and communicate these to the Team Leader.
Activities:
- Prepare and distribute Travel and Entertainment (TE) reporting for a large US sales team and prepare monthly journal entries related to TE reporting.
- Perform variance analysis against performance targets.
- Prepare reporting on business performance.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting packs including but not limited to analysis of TE spend and monthly fleet analysis
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis / production of reports as requested to support accurate reporting and support business decisions.
- Request accruals / other adjustments (including review of month end postings for quality, identifying necessary material adjustments required and requesting necessary journal entries).
- Support sales teams and legal on review, approval and processing of payments for donations and sponsorships for anti-bribery and corruption compliance.
- Submit invoices for Sales team to accounts payable as needed.
- Review monthly fleet invoice and respond to request for cost center changes
- Prepare monthly lease cost analysis and reconciliation.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Recent experience within a finance function in areas such as AP/AR, billing, and related financial analysis.
- Experience of interpreting data to make calculations and posting resulting journals
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills; professional demeanour to maintain and enhance relationships
- Excellent Excel skills, e.g. pivot tables, SUMIFs and vlookup's which will be tested at interview.
- Strong analytical mind-set for modelling/ forecasting financial impact of change
Desirable criteria:
- Ability to learn quickly and be flexible and adaptable to change management within processes and/or applications
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills; professional demeanour to maintain and enhance relationships
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience of accounting operations, financial management and management accounting.
- Knowledge of Oracle or SAP ERP and Hyperion systems.
