Systems Consultant This role is an important part of the IT Team whostrives to help and support Saga functions across the business. Thisrole sits in the Saga Insurance Web Development team, responsible fordeveloping and supporting numerous e-commerce engines, as well asback-end Services and APIs. The main responsibility will be onsupporting change to the Insurance pricing engine and therefore isfocussed on back-end and database development. Front-end web developmentskills for future project involvement on the e-commerce websites wouldalso be useful. You will have an enthusiasm for personal development andlearning, with the desire to extend personal skill sets throughcontinuous self-assessment. If this sounds like a role for you then keepreading Responsibilities: Work will be distributed to the SystemsConsultant via the Project Manager, Business Analyst, Internet Marketingor through an IT project team. Consultants are expected to beself-managing but be able to contribute fully to a project team. Detailed analysis of user requirements for new systems and the continuedmaintenance/enhancement of current systems. Provide advice wherealternative solutions exist. In depth knowledge of Web securityvulnerabilities and adherence to best practice on application security. Ensure that in-house best practice is adhered to, following any styleguidelines, accessibility checklists and browser coverage. Achieve theproper sign off for the delivery of projects whether through themarketing circulation process or through the website release processwhere a technical sign off is required. Follow all Saga proceduresrelating to the website and emails, including, but not limited to, therelease procedures. Communicate and co-operatively identify the statusof projects and project activities to the appropriate parties. Engender a culture of continuous improvement consistent with thecultural context of the organisation. Seek opportunities to contributeoriginal ideas to the benefit of the organisation. Undertakeenvironmental scanning activity in order to assess new technology, bestpractice and competitor emails/websites in order to apply learning toSaga web activity. The Individual A modern object orientated approachto systems design and development o Preferably within a C# .NETenvironment o JavaScript coding and use of 3rd party frameworks oDatabase design especially SQL Server and Oracle platforms o HTML, CSS oTest driven development Understanding of web security, usability,accessibility, performance and general best practice Experience oftechnical project management, and open-minded and inquisitive ondevelopment methodologies Good standard of secondary education Educated to degree level in a technical subject would be an advantage Good analytical and technical skills Ability to interpret and critiquea business brief and deliver solutions that fulfil or exceedexpectations Ability to work within a formal change management process Ability to recognise and work in line with Saga business objectivesand methods Ability to communicate effectively within the team and tothe business Highly motivated, flexible and organised, with an abilityto work under pressure Excellent time management skills ability toeffectively prioritise workloads and to meet business expectations
